Cross Country Ends 2009 Campaign with Second Place Finishes at Halloween Run

Sweet Placed Second Overall
NEW YORK, NY – The men’s and women’s cross country teams finished their 2009 season last Sunday at the annual Nick Russo Halloween Run in Van Cortlandt Park. Both the men and the women placed second overall, both runners up to Hunter College.
In the women’s 4k race, Simi Lampert was the top finisher in 9th place overall, in a time of 22:46. Basyah Klyman and Sara Hindin finished in 10th and 11th places, with times of 22:58 and 23:48 respectively. Jennifer Kraut and Aviva Bloom rounded out the Yeshiva scorers with times of 24:16 and 25:21.
For the men, David Sweet finished the 6k race in 17:11, good for second place overall. Aryeh Shapiro placed 7th with a time of 18:35, followed by Joel Dvorim in 11th place (19:56), Zachary Jerusalem in 13th (20:46), and Jonathan Mond in 17th (21:34). The team’s 44 points were 25 behind Hunter, and 30 better than Concordia in third place.
