Shapiro, Wasserman lead YU Men's/Women's Cross Country to outstanding performances at Hunter College Invitational

(Riverdale, NY) - Yeshiva University Men's Cross Country senior Ari Shapiro (Los Angeles, CA/YULA) enjoyed his second consecutive outstanding week, finish in ninth place with a time of 31:15, and Women's Cross Country senior Brianna Wasserman (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley) placed 17th with a time of 25:47 to lead YU to a sixth place finish as the Yeshiva University Men's and Women's Cross Country teams enjoyed a fine day of competition at the Hunter College Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 14.

A week after a spectacular third place finish at the Baruch College Invitational, Shapiro was outstanding once again, placing ninth out of a field of more than 100 runners. Joining Shapiro in the top-25 was junior Samuel Grossman (Merrick, NY/DRS), who finished in 24th place with a time of 34:08.

For the YU Women, Wasserman was one of three Maccabees to finish in the top 50 as senior Dana Faleck (West Hempstead, NY/HANC) finished in 24th place with a time of 26:39, and junior Leya Eisenman (Monsey, NY/Bat Torah Academy) finished in 33rd place with a time of 28:38.

Both teams competed against a field of more than 10 teams with more than 100 runners competing in each event.

Both Yeshiva teams return to action on Sunday, Sept. 21 when they compete at the Queensboro Community College Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park.
