NEW YORK, NY – At the EWFC Championships Sunday afternoon, two female fencers were named to the All-Conference team after finishing in the top 9 of all Epee competitors.
Elizabeth Penn placed 6th overall with 10 victories and 6 losses, while
Chana Gila Ovits placed 9th with 8 victories and 8 losses.
Of 17 Epee competitors, the top finisher is named the Epee Fencer of the Year. The next 4 finishers make the first team All-Conference, and the next 4 are on the second team.
Elizabeth Penn and
Chana Gila Ovits were the only two from Yeshiva to place in the top 9 in any weapon.
Both girls have qualified for the NCAA Regionals that are being held on March 14th at Brown University. They will be representing Yeshiva in Epee along with
Leah Avner. Seven other Maccabees will be competing in both Foil and Sabre, namely:
Eliana Shaul,
Shani Zitter,
Rebecca Miller (all Foil),
Abigail Phillips,
Lisa Ast,
Brahna Kessler, and
Rebecca Sperling (all Sabre).
