42 Student-Athletes Named to Skyline Conference’s Scholar Athlete Winter/Spring List; Martin Leibovich Earns Basketball Scholar Athlete of the Year

Leibovich Earns the Men's Basketball Scholar Athlete of the Year Award
NEW YORK, NY – The Skyline Conference office announced last week the names of the student-athletes that made the Winter/Spring Scholar-Athlete list. A total of 318 student-athletes across the conference's 11 schools made the list, and Yeshiva University was tied for the school with the most student-athletes on the list (42). For the entire 2009-2010 season, there were a total of 676 student-athletes on the list, a record number for the conference.

Also announced were the winners of the Winter/Spring Sport Scholar Athlete of the Year. This individual award is given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA on the All-Conference first team. Yeshiva's Martin Leibovich earned the award with a 3.74 GPA.

Including the 65 student-athletes that Yeshiva placed on the fall Scholar-Athlete list, the Maccabees lead the conference with 107 student-athletes with GPA's above 3.30 for the entire athletic year. Yeshiva fields teams in 12 of the conferences' 17 sports, which averages out to nearly 9 student-athletes per sport that receive a GPA of at least 3.30.
