Women's Soccer Handed Season Opening Loss from Medgar Evers
Bookmark and Share
NEW YORK, NY – The women's soccer team lost their season opener to the visiting Cougars from Medgar Evers by a final score of 15-1. This was also the first came for Medgar Evers in the 2010 campaign.

Yeshiva's lone goal came in the 57th minute from Atara Kanarfogel. The big play came after an offside call gave Yeshiva a free kick. Rochelle Friedman sent a pass over the top of the defense to Atara who dribbled past a defender and found herself one-on-one with the goalkeeper. As the goalie came out of the net, Atara put a shot on goal that ricocheted off the goalies hands and to the back of the net.

The defense put in by new head coach Tony Elmore gave Medgar Evers fits all night. The Cougars were whistled for 21 offside penalties. Offensively, the Macs put 6 shots on goal, and 10 for the game.

In net, Yael Refah played nearly 70 minutes and stopped 15 shots. Her replacement in the final 21 minutes of the first half, Tracy Steinberger, saved 1.

The Maccabees will have a break until October 5th when they host the Rams of Farmingdale State. The game is slated for an 8PM start.
