NEW YORK - The Skyline Conference and Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) recently announced their women's volleyball all-conference teams, and Yeshiva University junior libero,
Shira Genauer (Seattle, Wash.) has been named to both all-conference squads. She was tabbed as a Skyline Conference second-team selection, becoming the first Maccabees player to earn such distinction in the program's three-year tenure in the conference, while the HVWAC names one team.
Genauer was a presence in the back row for head coach Roxanne Prendergast's Maccabees, who took a first-set triumph against third-seeded College of New Rochelle Saturday night (Nov. 10) before falling by a 3-1 count in the opening round of the HVWAC tournament. Her 272 digs in 58 sets played this season are good for a 4.69 per-set average that ranks her third in that category in both conferences. Genauer, who has led the team in digs (259, in 2011) in both her seasons at YU, also recorded 40 back-row kills and 17 service aces (tied, second on team). She registered double-digit digs on 12 occasions in the Macs' 18-match schedule this year, including 11 of the last 12 matches of the campaign. Additionally, Genauer surpassed the 20-dig barrier eight times, including a season-high 31 passes in a four-set match at Pratt, Oct. 18.
