Judy Cummins
Women's Fencing - Head CoachEmail - jcummins@yu.eduJudy Cummins has been actively fencing for over 20 years and teaching fencing for 16 years. Judy is certified by the US Fencing Association to coach all three weapons and is a member of the US Fencing Coaches Association through which she has earned her international certification as a Moniteur de Sabre. She has been the Head Coach of the Women’s Fencing Team at Yeshiva University since 2001 and was the sabre coach for the previous 2 years. She also teaches at the Brooklyn Fencing Center. Besides YU and BFC, Judy has taught recreational, beginner and after-school classes to adults and children at New York University, Borough of Manhattan Community College, The Fencers Club, The Ramaz School, The Berkeley Carroll School and Yeshiva of Flatbush.
Coach Cummins is a former nationally ranked saber fencer and has medaled in more than 50 national, regional and local tournaments. She is a US Veterans Saber Gold Medalist and took fifth in the 2006 Veterans World Championship in Bath, England. She was on the Board of Directors of the USFA Metropolitan Division/Section from 1993-2001 and served as Bout Committee Chair from 1998-2001.
Outside of fencing, Judy is a graphic artist and illustrator. She worked as a studio and production artist in advertising for 25 years, taught Introduction to Computer Graphics at Yeshiva for 7 years and now works as a freelancer. She has illustrated more than 20 books on various subjects such as health, diet, exercise, pregnancy, cooking, do-it-yourself, pet care and science. Some of her clients include Ballantine Books, Random House, Penguin Books, Evan Moor Publishing, Mobil Oil and the Concrete Industry Board of NY.
Judy and her husband Michael live in Brooklyn with their sibling cats Cowboy and Romeo.
Sharone Huey
Women's Fencing - Assistant Coach

Sharone Huey is in her 2nd year at Yeshiva University as an Assistant Fencing Coach for the women's foil team. She graduated from Brooklyn College where she learned to fence. As a member of the fencing team, she served as the team captain, and was part of the team that win the City Championships. She has been fencing for over 30 years and has been competing on a regular basis since 1999.
In the mid-1990's, Huey created a fitness class, namely Cardio-Fence, which was listed as one of the hottest classes in NYC by Fitness Magazine.
Heuy resides in Brooklyn and works as an Exercise Physiologist at Chelsea Piers Sports Center.
